Maryland to Hear Testimony on PAS Bill

Posted on

This Friday, February 28th, at 12:00 noon, the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee will be holding a legislative hearing on the proposed physician-assisted suicide legislation – SB 701. We are asking that our coalition members turn out in full force to show our strong opposition to this legislation!

We will be grouping up at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, outside of Room 2 in the East Miller Senate Building (11 Bladen Street, Annapolis, MD 21401). The hearing is scheduled to begin promptly at 12:00 noon.

To demonstrate how large the opposition is to this legislation, we are asking everyone who is attending the hearing to wear green. We will be handing out stickers to everyone in attendance that further illustrates our opposition.

In addition to tomorrow’s hearing, we are asking that everyone use the below link to contact your legislators. Physician-assisted suicide has NO place in Maryland and your legislators need to hear that message from you, their constituent.

Sadly, this is the fifth time in six years that out-of-state groups are pushing our Maryland General Assembly to legalize physician-assisted suicide. Together, we were able to stop this bill every time it has been introduced in Maryland, and with your help, we WILL stop it again!

If you can’t make it to the hearing, but want to follow along, you can watch the hearing LIVE by clicking HERE.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

– Maryland Against Physician Assisted Suicide
