Maryland to Hear Testimony on PAS Bill
Despite being defeated in their efforts every year, proponents of physician-assisted suicide (PAS) have again introduced their dangerous bill in 2023.
We need your help to ensure that this bill is defeated yet again.
The bill (HB.933 / SB.845) is the exact same deeply flawed legislation that our state lawmakers have rejected over and over again. It ignores the numerous valid concerns our coalition has raised with this bill, remains unethical, discriminatory and a danger to so many people in Maryland. We know the out-of-state groups behind PAS are out of touch with the people and leaders of our state.
On Tuesday, March 7th, at 1:00 pm, the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee will be holding a legislative hearing on the Senate version of proposed PAS legislation. This will be the first hearing on this dangerous proposal this session and we need your help!

Our coalition numbers continue to grow and represent a diverse range of groups and professionals. Members include nationally and locally recognized health care, disability rights, and community-based organizations that understand the disproportionate impact PAS can have on Maryland’s most vulnerable residents.
The well-funded out-of-state groups pushing this bill continue to pour their resources into Maryland, but together, we can ensure our state remains a place where people facing terminal illnesses get the care and actual compassion they deserve, not ill-conceived policies that threaten the welfare of Marylanders.
